IDeaS G3 Integration
IDeaS G3 Revenue Management Solution enables Inntopia’s partners to make pricing decisions to drive optimal revenue performance. The integration between IDeaS G3 and Inntopia is one-way, where Inntopia receives Last Room Value (LRV) data from IDeaS G3 and determines whether to sell lodging for different Lengths of Stay (LOS) based on the data.
- LRV (Last Room Value) – The minimum dollar amount at which a room will be offered and sold.
- Hurdle – The LRV amount as received from IDeaS G3.
- Delta – Currency amount of how much to increase / decrease LRV based on new or cancelled reservations.
Note: New or cancelled reservations refer to Inntopia reservations ONLY. Inventory updates from your PMS are NOT included.
- Effective LRV – The current LRV accounting for hurdle being increased or decreased by the Delta.
- Ceiling – The maximum number of Deltas by which the LRV can be increased.
- Floor – The currency amount below which the effective LRV cannot drop.
- Product Class – A group of product types that have the same LRV. A product type can only be in one product class; therefore, all rate plans for a product type can only be in one product class.
Note: IDeaS G3 refers to Product Class as Room Class.
- Filter As – When a rate can be evaluated for LRV (filtered as) at another rate, either potentially increasing or decreasing its availability. For example, Inntopia partners can filter a promotional rate as the higher RACK rate, increasing its LRV and therefore its availability.
Note: IDeaS G3 refers to Filter As as Yield As.
- Inntopia receives LRV at the Product Class level.
Note: IDeaS G3 refers to Product Class as Room Class.
- Inntopia receives and store LRV from IDeaS G3 at a configurable cadence. Inntopia recommends a frequency of no more than four times daily.
- Inntopia sends a confirmation message if LRV is received successfully, or an error message with a code if LRV is not received successfully.
- Inntopia has logic to evaluate LRV Hurdle, Delta, Floor, and Ceiling, and calculates Effective LRV values based on the evaluation.
- Inntopia has logic to evaluate Effective LRV and determines whether to sell lodging for different Lengths of Stay (LOS) based on the evaluation.
- Inntopia excludes products from search results that do NOT meet the LRV / LOS restrictions.
- Filter As is supported for both Inntopia RMS-controlled promotions AND different rate plans coming from a PMS.
- Supported in both Inntopia eComm and Inntopia CRS.
- Supported in both On-Prem and SaaS.
- Inntopia CRS user interface allows partners to view and edit through the Hurdle Inspector:
- View current IDeaS G3 LRV, including whether products are available for sale for specific date ranges.
- View, edit, or create new Filter As parameters.
- Partner must have a contract with IDeaS G3.
- For information on implementing the Inntopia–IDeaS G3 integration, contact Inntopia Partner Services.
Inntopia receives LRV at the product-class level. A product type can only be in one product class, and therefore all rate plans for a product type can only be in one product class.
Example:
- Three product types in IDeaS G3, King Room, Queen Room, Double Room, are mapped to a Product Class of KQD.
- The LRV sent for the Product Class KQD applies to all three product types.
- The LRV sent for the Product Class KQD also applies to any other rate plans for the product types, such as a AAA room type.
In these examples, the King Room RACK rate may be available for sale, but Queen Room RACK rate or the King Room AAA rate may not be available for sale because they are sold at a lower rate.
LRV Hurdle Rate, Delta, Floor, and Ceiling data is received from IDeaS G3. Inntopia calculates Effective LRV values based on the evaluation of this data, and the Effective LRV is what is used to determine LOS restrictions.
Example:
- LRV Hurdle is $100, Delta is $1, Ceiling is $2, Floor is $0.01.
- When a reservation is made, the LRV is increased to make the Effective LRV $101.
- When a second reservation is made, the LRV is increased to make the Effective LRV $102.
- If three or more reservations are made, the Effective LRV remains at $102 because of the Ceiling of $2.
- If a reservation is cancelled, then the Effective LRV is decreased by $1. Effective LRV will not go below Floor.
- If cancellations cause Effective LRV to drop below the Ceiling, new reservations can again cause the Effective LRV to increase.
- Once a new set of LRV is sent, the LRV Hurdle Rate and the process above is reset.
Inntopia has logic to evaluate Effective LRV and calculates Length of Stay (LOS) restrictions based on the evaluation. The below tables and supporting detail explain when LOS calculation leads to rooms being available or unavailable for sale.
Green = available, red = unavailable.
Single-Day LRV Examples | ||||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
25-Dec | 26-Dec | 27-Dec | 28-Dec | 29-Dec | 30-Dec | 31-Dec | 1-Jan | |
Daily Rate | $200 | $300 | $300 | $300 | $300 | $250 | $400 | $200 |
LRV | $180 | $305 | $320 | $320 | $310 | $239 | $410 | $80 |
LOS 1 Rate Delta | $20 | -$5 | -$20 | -$20 | -$10 | $11 | -$10 | $120 |
- 25-Dec – $200 is above LRV of $180; therefore, open for sale for LOS 1.
- 26-Dec – $300 is below LRV of $305; therefore, closed for sale for LOS 1.
- 27-Dec: $300 is below LRV of $320; therefore, closed for sale for LOS 1.
- Following the same logic:
- 28-Dec, 29-Dec, and 31-Dec are closed for sale.
- 30-Dec and 1-Jan are open for sale.
Multiple-Day LRV/LOS Examples | ||||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Arrival Date 25-Dec | LOS 1 | LOS 2 | LOS 3 | LOS 4 | LOS 5 | LOS 6 | LOS 7 | LOS 8+ |
Daily Rate | $200 | $300 | $300 | $300 | $300 | $250 | $400 | $200 |
Total Rate | $200 | $500 | $800 | $1,100 | $1,400 | $1,650 | $2,050 | $2,250 |
LRV | $180 | $$485 | $805 | $1,125 | $1,435 | $1,674 | $2,084 | $2,164 |
LOS Available? | Y | Y | N | N | N | N | N | Y |
- Arrival Date 25-Dec – For each LOS, the price for each day is summed and compared to the sum of the LRVs.
- Open for sale: LOS = Y
- Closed for sale: LOS = N
- Example:
- LOS 3 – Price (200+300+300) = 800
- LRV – (180+305+320) = 805
- 800 < 805 therefore LOS 3 is closed.
Inntopia supports Filter As for both Inntopia RMS-controlled promotions AND different rate plans coming from a Property Management System (PMS). Filter As allows partners to evaluate a rate as another rate, effectively increasing or decreasing availability of that rate.
The Filter As examples below show filtering a rate as RACK; however, rates can be filtered as any other rate, including a lower one which would potentially decrease availability.
- RACK lodging rate = $100
- Pass holder promo = 10% off = $90.
- LRV = $100
- Without Filter As – Pass holder promo rate will NOT meet LRV and will NOT be displayed in search results.
- With Filter As – Inntopia partners can filter the promo rate as RACK and the promo rate will meet LRV and display in search results, giving pass holders the ability to book the room at the discounted price.
- Sent to Inntopia via Promotion Code
- RACK lodging rate = $100
- AAA rate = 10% off = $90.
- LRV = $100 for both rates since they are both the same room class.
- Without Filter As – AAA promo rate will NOT meet LRV and will NOT be displayed in search results.
- With Filter As – Inntopia partners can filter the AAA promo rate as RACK and the promo rate WILL meet LRV and display in search results, giving AAA members the ability to book the room at the discounted price.
The Inntopia Hurdle Inspector and Rate Filter Tool in Inntopia CRS supports the IDeaS G3 integration. For more information, visit Price Hurdle Tools.
- Inntopia CRS Overrides
- Inntopia CRS price overrides are allowed only for G3 products that meet LRV and are displayed in search results.
- Example: Lodging Rate = $110, LRV = $100. When lodging appears in search results, the agent can change the Lodging Rate to $75 and reserve.
- G3 products where price override has been applied factor into the Delta / Ceiling analysis.
- For the above example, if the Ceiling is not already met, the reservation will increase the Delta by $1.
- G3 products are NOT considered restricted.
- If products don’t meet LRV, they will not appear in searches when “Display Restricted Items” is selected and therefore will not be available for price override.
- Inntopia CRS price overrides are allowed only for G3 products that meet LRV and are displayed in search results.
- When G3 sends Inntopia a Hurdle change message and Inntopia can only apply some of the changes, Inntopia rejects ALL changes and sends an error response.
- Extra person charges factor into the LRV evaluation.
- Example: Room rate (2 people base) = $95; Extra person charge = $25; LRV = $100. Two people will not meet LRV; however, three people will meet LRV.
- Pre-book checks are completed for LRV products.
- Exception: Price overrides are NOT subject to pre-book check.
- Modifications to itineraries that impact pricing are subject to new LRV evaluation.
- Example: Adding a fourth day to a three-day stay, LRV LOS analysis will be on the four-day stay.
- Inntopia Bundles and LRV
- The stand-alone lodging rate is evaluated for LRV.
- Days that do not have LRV are treated as if LRV = 0.
- a. Example: Six-day search well into the future. Days 1, 2, 3, and 4 have hurdle data. Days 5 and 6 do NOT have hurdle data; therefore, hurdle will be 0 for days 5 and 6.
- LRV analysis is completed against the pre-tax price displayed to the guest in both Inntopia eComm and Inntopia CRS.
- Applies to both Gross and Net Inntopia pricing models.
- Effective LRV is prevented from being negative by the Floor setting.
- Oversell functionality through Inntopia – IDeaS G3 integration.
- Oversell inventory is determined by PMS and sent to Inntopia as available inventory.
- Receiving price from IDeaS G3.
- Inntopia receives LRV ONLY from IDeaS G3.
- Inntopia receives price from PMS.
- Receiving LOS restrictions from IDeaS G3. Inntopia calculates LOS based on LRV coming from IDeaS G3; therefore, does not need to receive LOS from IDeaS G3.
- Logging data in Inntopia on what products were restricted due to LRV and sending the logged data to IDeaS G3.
