DestiMetrics
The DestiMetrics (DMX) portal provides standardized industry metrics and features unique, forward-looking indicators providing a vital tool for tracking the major economic, business, and consumer trends that influence the destination travel marketplace, and the lodging performance data that reflect those influences. DMX is the leading supplier of lodging metrics and market intelligence for the North American destination travel and hospitality industries.
DestiMetrics data is compiled from submissions by participating partners. These partners submit their data twice monthly to Inntopia where it is aggregated, anonymized, and structured into interpretive reports which show both historic and forward-looking economic, business, and consumer trends.
Participants submit their data through the DMX portal using various methods depending on the type of data being submitted.
- Monthly-level – Data summed to a monthly level of granularity is either entered into text fields on the DMX portal or emailed directly to an Inntopia Destination analyst.
- Daily-level – Data summed to a daily level of granularity is either submitted via .csv file through the DMX uploader tool or by emailing the .csv file directly to an Inntopia Destination analyst.
DestiMetrics data is only made available to subscribing partners through the DMX portal. There are three levels of DestiMetrics subscribers:
- Funding Partners – Funding partners are typically destination organizations such as Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs), travel and tourism boards, or town governments who pay for access to the DMX data. Some funding partners also submit data.
- Data Submitting Partners – Data submitting partners are made up of properties from the various subscribing destinations whose combined lodging performance data makes up the bulk of the DMX report statistics.
- Public Service / Community Partners – Public service / community partners generally include retailers, restaurants, community service providers, public works departments, or local economic advisors. These partners are provisioned access to DMX data through a funding partner and use the data to plan appropriately during peak travel times, or for occupancy gaps in upcoming travel. Providing the community the ability to adequately staff businesses, forecast public service needs, and monitor local travel trends.
