Zero-Dollar Products
You can use the Inntopia system to create products that have zero-dollar (no charge) pricing. When setting up or modifying product rates in the Tape Chart, you can enter a rate of $0.00 for any product in your Inntopia system. This feature can be useful for creating products that must be included on an itinerary but for which there is no charge.
Example
No-charge products can be useful when you might need a guest to choose an option for a product but don't want to charge for choosing one or the other. For example, you can set up a product bundle that includes a free child dinner but also has a requirement to specify either a Child Chicken Dinner or a Child Pasta Dinner. You can set up both dinner products with a zero dollar amount. As part of purchasing the bundle, the guest is then required to choose one of the dinners for the child but there is no charge for the choice. However, if you leave the rate blank and do not enter a zero dollar amount in the Tape Chart, those products will not appear as part of the bundle.
As an alternative, you can apply a 100% discount to any component of a promotion.
Zero-dollar rates can be confirmed in Inntopia CRS, and the zero-dollar amount also appears on confirmation emails sent to guests.
Note: The rate for no-charge products cannot be left blank in the Tape Chart; for the products to appear in search results, you must enter a zero-dollar rate of $0.00.
