Barcodes
Barcodes can be printed on vouchers that use scanning technology to replace manually entering an order number from a pre-ordered and pre-paid activity voucher into a POS (Point-of-Sale) system. Barcode vouchers can be redeemed at either a ticket window or a kiosk where the voucher is scanned, and an activity ticket is printed by the POS system.
To use barcodes:
- You must have previously set up proof of purchase vouchers within your Inntopia system.
- You must have an integration with a POS system that supports barcodes.
- You must have scanners which read barcodes.
Note: To inquire about the necessary software and hardware to support barcodes and scanning capability, contact your POS provider.
The access control industry uses different kinds of barcode fonts. Different POS systems use different types of fonts that are readable by different types of barcode scanners. To determine the type of font(s) that are supported and the size of the barcode that is readable by their barcode scanners, contact your POS system provider.
Inntopia currently supports three types of barcode fonts:
- Code 39
- Code 128
- Interleaved 2 of 5 (ITF)
Supporting other barcode font types requires additional development.
Inntopia can associate barcodes with integrated products. The partner supplies the barcode font and size for a supplier’s products. The barcode numbers for the integrated products are generated by the POS system. As products are sold, a unique barcode number is associated with either a product or or all products on an order depending on the POS system being used. The confirmation to the guest includes a link to a voucher that contains the barcode. The guest can print the voucher or display it on their mobile device to redeem the product(s) at a ticket window. The ticket window agent will scan the barcode and the scan will be reflected in the POS system with which the supplier is integrated.
Barcodes must be set up by Inntopia developers. To use barcodes on your vouchers:
- Submit an INNTERACT request that includes the following information:
- Supplier ID
- Barcode font types supported by your POS integration. If applicable, include prefix/suffix. Prefix/suffix cannot contain the asterisk character (*).
- Size of barcode
- Height – default is 1.0 however 0.6 is also supported
- Width – default is .0208333
- Point-of-Sale system
- In RTP, the RTP Order ID is used as the barcode ID/number. Since orders can have multiple products, the same barcode will be associated with multiple products on a single order.
- In Siriusware, the access ID is obtained from Siriusware and used as the barcode ID/number.
Note: For information on additional setup and fees associated with using barcodes with your RTP or Siriusware integration, contact your Strategic Account Manager.
- Add a voucher to each product within your Inntopia system to which you want to add barcode scanning capability.
Inntopia can associate barcodes with non-integrated products. The partner supplies the barcode font and size for a supplier’s products. The barcode numbers for the non-integrated products should be supplied by the partner. As products are sold, a unique barcode number is associated with each product. The confirmation to the guest includes a link to a voucher that contains the barcode. The guest can print the voucher or display it on their mobile device to redeem the product at a ticket window. The ticket window agent will scan the barcode and the scan will be reflected in the POS system with which the supplier is integrated. No integration between Inntopia and the POS is required for this functionality.
Barcode IDs are viewable in the Remote System Reservations Report in Inntopia CRS.
Barcodes must be set up by Inntopia developers. To use barcodes on vouchers:
- Submit an INNTERACT request that includes a spreadsheet containing the following information:
- Supplier ID – Supplier can only have one barcode per product
- Product ID – Used to associate barcode ID with specific product
- Barcode font types supported by your POS integration. Do NOT include prefix/suffix in the spreadsheet.
- Barcode size
- Height – default is 1.0 however 0.6 is also supported
- Width – default is .0208333
- Barcode IDs
- Supply a list of barcode IDs/numbers. Barcode IDs cannot include the asterisk character (*).
- Add a voucher to each product within your Inntopia system to which you want to add barcode scanning capability.
There may be a fee associated with setting up barcodes based on the complexity of the requested setup.
