Manage Marketing Sources
To easily track of which advertising efforts lead your customers to contact your call center, you can provide Marketing Sources for your agents to select each time they open a new session in Inntopia CRS.
Source Super Categories are assigned to your account by Inntopia staff and are used merely as an additional layer of tracking. Typically, only one source super category is needed and is often the same name as the sales channel.
Every Inntopia CRS account comes with default Source Categories, to which you can add Sources. Or, you can create a custom Source Category, such as Tradeshow, and then create multiple Sources that fall under that category, such as Ski Show and Golf Show. All Source Categories and their related Sources are available in a drop-down list for agents to select from when a guest calls to inquire about making a reservation.
You can use the following Sales reports to track Marketing Sources:
Note: Online reservations are automatically assigned a marketing source of Web. The Web marketing source does not require any setup in your sales channel.
Below are the default source categories included with every sales channel. These source categories cannot be modified or removed.
- Phone
- Internet
- Walk In
- Print Ad
You can create a new Source Category and then add relevant Sources to it.
- From the Commerce Portal Tools menu select Source Management or from your CRS top navigation menu, select Sources. The Source Management page appears showing the default Source Categories available to you. Any previously created custom Source Categories also appear on the screen.
- If you have more than one Source Super Category set up, in the Source Super Category drop-down list, select the Source Super Category to which you want to add a new Source Category.

In the Current Setup section, click Create New Source Category. The Create a new Source Category in the selected Super Category window appears.

In the Source Category field, enter the name of the new Source Category and click Add Source Category. A message appears asking you to confirm adding the Source Category.
- To cancel adding the Source Category, click Nevermind or click anywhere outside of the box.
To add the Source Category, click Yes. The custom Source Category is added to the list.
You can a source to both default and custom Source Categories.
- From the Commerce Portal Tools menu select Source Management or from your CRS top navigation menu, select Sources. The Source Management page appears showing the Source Categories and their related Sources.
- If you have more than one Source Super Category set up, in the Source Super Category drop-down list, select the Source Super Category to which you want to add a new Source.

In the Current Setup section, click Create New Source. The Create a new Source window appears.
- In the Source field, enter the name of the new Source.

In the Select a Source Category drop-down list, select the Source Category to which you want to add the new Source and click Create Source. The Source is added to the selected Source Category.
- Default Source Categories cannot be modified or deleted.
- Custom Source Categories can be modified and deleted.
- All Sources can be modified and deleted.
- Deleting a custom Source Category automatically deletes all of its related Sources.
- From the Commerce Portal Tools menu select Source Management or from your CRS top navigation menu, select Sources. The Source Management page appears showing the Source Categories and their related Sources.
